Which free Excel template is right for you?

The right Excel template is chosen by the question you can't answer: if you don't know how many units of a product are left, use stock tracking; if you don't know who owes how much, use the customer account or customer credit (veresiye) ledger; if you don't know where the money is going, use income and expense; and if the cash drawer doesn't balance at the end of the day, the daily cash book template does the job. All 22 files below are free, with no sign-up or email required; each one comes with formulas, drop-down lists and a sheet that summarizes the numbers.

Just need a one-off calculation?

A template is for keeping the same record continuously. If you're curious about just one number — separating out VAT, finding a selling price, working out how many days stock takes to turn over — you don't need to download a file: the free calculators run in your browser.

VAT Calculator

VAT-inclusive to exclusive and exclusive to inclusive. 1%, 10% and 20% are preset; net amount and VAT amount instantly.

Profit Margin Calculator

From purchase price to selling price, from selling price to margin. It shows markup on cost and margin on sales separately.

Price Increase and Discount Calculator

The new price after a percentage increase or discount, the rate of change between two prices, and the effect on profit.

Frequently asked questions

Are the templates really free?

Yes. All of them are free; they don't ask for sign-up, email or payment. The files have no watermark, cell protection or opening password, and you can use and modify them freely in your business.

I don't have Excel — can I still use them?

Yes. The files are in .xlsx format and open in Google Sheets, LibreOffice Calc, WPS Office and Numbers. The formulas work in those programs too.

Which template should I start with?

Choose by the most urgent question you have: if you don't know your product count, stock tracking; if you don't know who owes how much, customer account or customer credit (veresiye) ledger; if you're wondering where the money goes, income and expense; if the drawer doesn't balance at the end of the day, the daily cash book.

Can I use the templates together?

Yes. If you write product codes and account names the same way, you can move data between templates by copy and paste; for example, the product codes in the stock tracking template match the count and price list templates.

What happens when the file gets big?

The formulas are set up for up to 300 rows; you can extend them by dragging the last row down. After a few thousand rows Excel slows down and two people can't edit the same file at the same time — at that point it's healthier to move to a dedicated app.
